The Family Networking Room

The Family Networking Room is a family-friendly collection of information to help families understand their child’s diagnosed condition or disability. There are also resources explaining child development, family dynamics, and coping with a child’s disability.  Everyone is welcome to use the Family Networking Room. Clients, family members, teachers and Centre staff may borrow resource materials.

The Lambton Kent Teen Transition Committee is pleased to annouce they have developed the "Getting Started" Resource Guide for families and teens.  Please click on this link http://www.teentransition-lk.org/  which will take you to the the JumpStart website. This resource guide provides valuable information to help parents and teen during the transition out of high school. The resource guide will provide information on post-secondary school, housing, community programs, funding and tips on how to make this transition a smoother journey for your family.

Parents Supporting Parents

F.A.C. Family Advisory Council and F.A.W.C. Family Advisory Working Committee

The Family Advisory Council (F.A.C.) and Family Advisory Working Group (F.A.W.C.)represents the voice of families receiving services at Pathways Health Centre for Children.  This group meets monthly and their focus is to ensure families feel they have an ally in the Centre that understands the challenges they may be experiencing with their child’s care and that any issues and/or concerns will be directed to the appropriate member of Staff, Senior Management and/or the Board of Directors. Families can connect to any of our F.A.C. or F.A.W.C. members by contacting our Family Engagement Coordinator, Jennifer Howell.

Pathways Parent Support Groups

Open Parent Support Group

When: Evening support group once a month from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

This informal group meets once a month in the front foyer or out in the community. The group is open to any caregiver of a child receiving services at Pathways.  It is drop in, but if families would like to get a reminder email/call, they need to register with the Family Engagement Coordinator, Jennifer Howell. Reminder emails are sent out to confirm the date and location of the support group.

When: Daytime support group once a month from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

Online Closed Facebook Support Group

Have you ever wanted to chat with other parents/guardians who get what it is like to have a child with a disability, but you don’t have the time? Welcome to our online Facebook group where you will be able to connect with other parents/guardians who are  clients of Pathways or have been in the past!   This online support group will help make connections with other families, share lived experiences and receive valuable resources.

Steps in joining the group:

  1. You must have a Facebook account
  2.  Have a child that has received therapy service from Pathways
  3. Go to https://www.facebook.com/groups/1048904505202321/  or search for Pathways Family Forum
  4.  Click on Join Group  and answer the following security questions.
  5. Anyone can request to join the group, but only those verified as parents/guardians of Pathways will be approved by the Group Administrator.

 Parent Pamper Events - Once a year we offer a pampering experience to parents.  This relaxing, social event offers caregivers a bit of respite in their busy lives.  Hairstyles, manicures and other luxuries are offered.  Childcare is provided for this event and registration is required to attend.
